Somewhere in your high school, a student yearns to learn more about the law and government. Like many other students in Virginia, this student seeks an authentic law-related experience that expands his or her legal knowledge in a creative and analytical way. It is these students who will become our next generation of attorneys, judges, government officials, business leaders, and law enforcement officers.
The Virginia Law Related Education Institute was founded to provide these students with authentic law-related educational opportunities. Through our flagship program, the Virginia High School Mock Trial Competition, teams of students from throughout Virginia compete in the ultimate law-related project-based learning experience. The competition is co-sponsored by the Center for Legal and Court Technology at the College of William and Mary Law School, and is affiliated with the National High School Mock Trial Competition. Early registration for the competition is open until October 15, 2017.
We also provide law-related workshops to both teachers and students. From introducing educators to mock trial as project-based learning, to teaching students about multiple legal topics, our programs align with Virginia Department of Education standards and focus on teaching Twenty-First Century skills.
Help us to prepare the next generation of Virginia leaders! Visit www.govlre.org for more information on registering for the Virginia High School Mock Trial Competition and other law-related opportunities.
You can also contact us directly by contacting Mary Beth Dalton at the Center for Legal and Court Technology at 757-221- 2494 or via email at info@govlre.com.
We look forward to providing law-related education to your students and faculty!

The Society of Women Engineers at the University of Virginia invites high school seniors and juniors from Virginia to apply to our High School Visitation program on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The program gives young women a comprehensive look at engineering fields and UVA’s engineering curriculum through informative speakers and hands-on design activities. The program is designed to benefit participants with all levels of engineering experience, but we particularly target those students who are not yet familiar with the field and may be interested in applying to engineering schools or pursuing a STEM career.
To apply, students should complete the HSV Fall 2017 Application which can be found here. This fall session particularly targets high school seniors, but sophomores and juniors can also apply. Students who have previously applied to HSV, are in the targeted grade level, and demonstrate a strong interest in engineering through their essay will receive priority acceptance and priority consideration for an overnight stay.
The attached flier provides more information about the event and instructions on how to apply online through our website.
The application must be completed online by 11:59 pm on Saturday, October 21st, 2017.
